A Sense of Poetry

Leviathan
by George Oppen

Even the verse begins to eat away
In the acid. Pursuit , pursuit;

A wind moves a little,
Moving in a circle, very cold.

How shall we say?
In ordinary discourse-

We must talk now. I am no longer sure of the words,
The clockwork of the world. What is inexplicable

Is the 'preponderance of objects ,' The sky lights
Daily with the predominance

And we have become the present.

We must talk now. Fear
Is fear. But we abandon one another.

On this poem I observe many things. This poem is not a rhyming poem. To me it made a connection that not every poem has to rhyme. The first stanza really stood put to me. It says happiness does stand just like trust, hard to believe. It just made me rink wow it really does connect like that. You cannot always be happy. Trust is a problem some people may have with anybody. The last stanza also spoke to me . It was like the imaginary character was talking to Fear and that you can abandon Feat sometimes. The fifth stanza has this deep meaning to it.

This says that we should stand up to our fear there is nothing we have to worry about. We are the present and that we should forget the future. If we keep on going at this Fear nothing Feat sometimes. The fifthstanza has this deep meaning to it going to stop. It explains that Fear can burn away with acid we just have to be strong enough. I believe in that.

This poem actually touched my heart. If Fear is something we can get rid of then why don't we
get rid of our Fears already. Everybody may have a Fear and I will probably take the advice of the poem you should talk to your Fear. Your Fear is only going to keep on circling around
you. So you have to stand up to your Fear.
