What does having a family mean?

Lock and Key By: Sarah Dessen is about a girl named Ruby changing her life. Her whole life was rough. She has one sister named Cora. Her mom and dad got divorced and her father separated away from them. She was closer to her sister mostly. Ruby and Cora had a very good relationship and sisters. Cora was older than Ruby and  Cora always defended ruby from her mother. Her mother was in very bad shape and she did not try to get closer to her daughters. She might as well got too far from her daughters for them to feel love in the air. But Cora went to college and didn't have to worry about her mother. After she went to college, Ruby and her mother were at a very distant relationship. But her mom told her that their life only mattered and they will always stick together. But soon everything changed.

Ruby lived by herself after her mom left her. While I was reading this book I thought about one question that kept on popping up in my head. Is having a family a big responsibility enough for separating a family? I thought about how if my mom or dad just left me and I had a big responsibility ahead of me. I thought about how some people are lucky they even have a family. Some of those people that are unlucky have a whole life ahead of them with nobody supporting them. A family is the best part of your life. Any problem you have you just go to your family and they will help you.

Family is a word to express the happiness you have in your own family. But also to always remember that they only do things for you. If you ever think that maybe one day having a family is something that you hate to have and you want to get rid of them. Think again and ask yourself these questions " What does love mean without a family?", "What is the point of your life?", and " Who is always going to be there for you?". These questions can answer a lot of questions for you. If I was ever in Ruby's position and I will never get through my life.
